Last but not least, there are so many creative ways in which to use your leftovers, so in our final part six of our blog series #6. Use what is Left, we have some recommendations on how you can give your scraps a second life.

6. Use what is left

There are many creative ways to use leftovers, and even the parts that you would usually toss in the garbage.

Consider:

*Freezing leftover’s for another meal or using it to help create an entirely new meal.

*Saving the remaining parts of the vegetables like the stems and roots, and storing them in a bag in the freezer. When the bag is full you can boil the contents and then strain it to make a delicious vegetable broth for soup. Authentic, yum!

*Saving your food scraps for your vegetable garden or herb patch – learn to compost – your garden will love you back with more delicious, nutritious produce. Or, tossing your scraps to your chickens, they will happily supply you with fresh free-range eggs!

*Passing on the tempting bulk deal. We know it is hard to pass up a good deal when you see one, but bulk buying often leads to a lot of wastage, so unless you plan on sharing with someone then try to ‘buy as you need’ instead.

*Turning produce that has softened a little too much into delicious soups, jams and crumbly deserts. The flavor is often amplified as they age!

I hope this blog series has provided you with some Food For Thought! If you have any additional tips please feel free to share in the comments section.
